Being kinder to the environment is something we should all take into consideration. What with the amount of plastic that goes into the sea, the animals that die from it, the pollution it causes and many other issues that hurt the environment, little changes can still make a big difference. My interest in ethical and sustainable fashion sparked my interest in other ways to be more eco-friendly. I found that investing in things that are reusable or just more eco-friendly is a great start in being kinder to the environment.
Many plastic straws end up in landfill and beaches as they’re not biodegradable. It’s harmful to the environment and sea animals, like turtles, due to this.
This is why metal straws are a great investment. They’re easy to clean since they’re provided with pipe cleaners to use to wash them and they’re dishwasher safe. You can bring them anywhere with you to use. They’re BPA (potentially harmful chemicals in plastic products) free. And most importantly, they’re sustainable!
Reusable Water Bottles
Hardly any plastic water bottles are properly recycled. Investing in a reusable water bottle makes a HUGE difference in being kinder to the environment. Personally, I like my R2-D2 stainless steel water bottle from Typo because it keeps my drinks cold or hot for a long period of time. Reusable water bottles are obviously sustainable too, so invest in one! I’d highly recommend a stainless steel one!
Many people buy coffee from Starbucks or Costa and unfortunately, the cups they provide aren’t recyclable. Even though Starbucks cups, for example, are paper, they have a plastic lining on the inside. These cups end up in landfill because the plastic lining clogs up the machinery used in recycling mills. Eco-friendly travel mugs are a great investment to combat this problem.
Plastic toothbrushes are forgotten about when it comes to being more eco-friendly. It’s easy to just buy toothbrushes from the shop without thinking of the environmental impact they cause. Alternatively, you can invest in a bamboo toothbrush. They’re biodegradable and the handles are compostable!
Plastic bags pollute the earth, aren’t biodegradable and are inconvenient in general. When going shopping, make sure to invest in tote bags beforehand! They’re not eco-friendly and they’re stronger than plastic bags!
